A Legacy of Scouting in Abington
For decades, Pack 41 has been a cornerstone of the Abington community. Our history is not just a timeline of dates, but a collection of traditions—from the sawdust of the Pinewood Derby track to the quiet moments of reflection at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery during Memorial Day flag placement.
Our Home: The American Legion Post 112
We are incredibly proud to be chartered by the Abington American Legion Post 112 (Lewis V. Dorsey Post). The partnership between the Legion and Scouting is a natural fit; both organizations are built on the pillars of duty to country, community service, and character development.
The Legion doesn’t just provide us with a place to meet; they provide our scouts with a living example of what it means to serve. Whether we are hosting a pasta dinner fundraiser at the Post or participating in town commemorations together, the American Legion is the bedrock of our program.
The Scouting Pipeline: Pack 41 to Troop 41
History at Pack 41 is always moving forward. We maintain a close “brother and sister” relationship with Troop 41 Abington.
In keeping with the modern mission of the Boy Scouts of America, both our Pack and Troop are inclusive of boys and girls. This “Family Scouting” model allows siblings to participate in the same organization, creating a seamless path from the first steps of a Kindergarten Lion to the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout in Troop 41.
Rooted in the South Shore
While our name says “Abington,” our history is shared with our neighbors. For years, we have served as a regional hub for families in Weymouth, Rockland, Brockton, and Bridgewater. We are a proud member of the Mayflower Council, carrying on the traditions of the South Shore scouting councils that came before us.
Every year, as our scouts march in the Abington St. Patrick’s Day Parade or help clean up local parks, we add a new chapter to our story.
We invite your family to become a part of the next one.
